Our Primary Gas Fixed Rate Service
Fixed Rate Service for Primary Natural Gas supply is available during designated enrolment periods throughout the year. It provides residential and commercial customers the option to choose a fixed rate for their Primary Natural Gas for a 1, 3 or 5-year term through Manitoba Hydro.
Enrol from February 13 to March 10 for Fixed Rate Service beginning May 1, 2017.
Note that even with the Fixed Rate Service, your total bill will fluctuate, depending on how much natural gas you use on a monthly basis.
|Current fixed-rate offerings:|
|1-year term||$0.1564/m3||May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018|
|3-year term||$0.1477/m3||May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2020|
|5-year term||$0.1449/m3||May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2022|
You can sign up during the enrolment period from February 13 to March 10, 2017, or until the offering is fully subscribed. Contracts are accepted on a first come, first served basis and availability is limited.
Why is the availability limited?
Manitoba Hydro assumes a certain level of risk associated with entering into fixed-rate primary gas contracts with you the customer. In order to manage its exposure to the risks associated with offering the Fixed Rate Service, Manitoba Hydro reserves the right to limit the availability of any offering.
All Manitoba residential/commercial Small General Service (SGS) and Large Gas Service (LGS) class natural gas customers are eligible to participate in our Fixed Rate Service, as long as you are not currently under contract with an independent gas marketer.
How to enrol
Enrol by downloading and printing one of the following Fixed Rate Service contracts (i.e. Small Volume or Large Volume contract). Before you fill out a Fixed Rate Service contract, read the Guide - Purchasing Natural Gas in Manitoba (PDF, 54 KB).
Customers consuming 5,000 m3/year or less of natural gas: Small Volume contract (PDF, 294 KB).
Customers consuming more than 5,000 m3/year of natural gas: Large Volume contract (PDF, 220 KB).
Prior to sending in a completed and signed Fixed Rate contract, be sure to make a copy for your records. Manitoba Hydro requires the original Fixed Rate contract.
If you are not sure which of the above contracts to fill out, please contact us for more information.
Choosing a fixed rate may or may not result in cost savings over the contract term. The best way to guarantee cost savings is by reducing the amount of natural gas you consume. Find out about Power Smart ways to reduce your energy consumption.
