Celebrate Earth Day by going paperless

This article was published in April 2023 and may be outdated.

Earth Day is on April 22 and encourages us to think about the actions and lifestyle changes we can make to protect the environment and the planet. Although our energy bills are printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) Certified paper that contains recycled content, reducing your overall paper waste is an easy way to participate in Earth Day this year.

By enrolling in paperless billing, you can conveniently view your energy bill online and be notified by text, email, or automated voice call when your bill is ready. Not only does paperless billing help the environment, it also helps you declutter and eliminates the risk of personal information sitting in your mailbox. Our current paperless customers help save over 15 million pieces of paper a year, which is equivalent to more than 1,500 trees!

We know some customers use their paper bill for tax season as a reminder to pay, but there are tools available to help make your transition to paperless billing easier: your online account stores up to two years of billing and payment history and you can receive bill reminder notifications. Ready to make the switch? Sign up for an online account and select paperless billing during registration.

You can find paperless billing options in your account settings screen.

Although this small change may feel like a big one, we encourage you to try paperless billing – if you decide it’s not right for you, you can switch back to receiving a paper bill at any time.
