Manitoba Hydro’s second annual Environmental, Social and Governance report highlights utility’s contribution to the province

Manitoba Hydro’s second annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, released this week, outlines the Crown Corporation and its employees’ support of the communities it serves and its priorities to continue to provide Manitobans with reliable, affordable energy.

“We know that Manitobans have an interest in the activities and actions we undertake as our province’s largest energy supplier and they expect us to lead as an environmental steward, a progressive and fair employer, and an active contributor to Manitoba’s social fabric and economic growth,” Manitoba Hydro President and CEO Jay Grewal said.

“Our ESG report celebrates the good work of our employees and substantiates the progress we are making through detailed metrics about where we dedicate our time, efforts, and funding to make a difference as an employer and a service provider. As a Crown Corporation, we have the utmost responsibility to be transparent and ethical in how we do business. Our annual ESG reporting highlights how we are doing that.”

Grewal said national ESG reporting standards are shifting to provide better transparency and more detailed, standardized, and stringent reporting to ensure Manitoba Hydro meets its commitments and continues to drive positive, sustainable change.

“Given our role in the province and the growing interest for Manitobans, I am proud to share that Manitoba Hydro is well positioned and has been planning ahead to meet the challenges of decarbonization and the changing energy landscape, as part of our commitment to providing energy for life for all Manitobans” she said.
