Maria Stanson Memorial Scholarship

Katherine Trotter"As a female from rural Manitoba, I am honoured to receive the Maria Stanson Memorial Scholarship and an Engineering Entrance Scholarship. Investing in a university education is vital to becoming a professional engineer, and these scholarships will help me accomplish this goal.

The fact that both of these scholarships provide summer employment opportunities puts the icing on the cake. Working for a highly respected corporation like Manitoba Hydro will give me practical experience, which will be crucial to my success as an engineer. Since engineering is not considered to be a traditional female profession, I am very grateful to be given this opportunity. I also hope that someday I will be able to encourage other young women to enter this profession."

Eligibility:

  • Female student;
  • Entering Engineering at University of Manitoba immediately following High School graduation;
  • Highest High School Average.

Amount:

  • 1 scholarship $1,500.

Application Process

The University of Manitoba Financial Aids & Awards office selects the students for each geographic area and notifies Manitoba Hydro. Award recipients are awarded in June/July.
