Program Recruitment

Recruitment for the Aboriginal Line Trades Pre-Placement Program occurs twice a year resulting in approximately twelve candidates each year. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

For consideration, all applications must include the following information:

  • Current resume and cover letter;
  • High school and any post secondary school transcripts or training certificates;
  • Proof of aboriginal ancestry.

The selection process includes aptitude testing, panel interview, and a one day Screening Session. Those candidates selected for an interview must provide a current driver's abstract at the time of their interview. If requested, interviews can be conducted in most Aboriginal languages.

Candidates proceeding past the interview process must complete a one day Screening Session at the Corporate Training Centre, located near Stonewall. The screening session provides you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to follow instruction, transfer knowledge and work at heights. It also gives the evaluation group an opportunity to see you perform hands on Power Line Trades related tasks.

Selected candidates will be provided educational assistance to upgrade to the minimum academic requirements and on the job training to successfully compete for a position in the Power Line Technician Training Program. The Pre-Placement Program is 7–8 months in duration. There is no guarantee of ongoing employment at the completion of the Pre-Placement Program.
