Solar

Solar energy is generated in the sun when hydrogen is converted to helium in a process known as nuclear fusion. A portion of this energy, also known as solar radiation, comes into contact with earth as sunlight, infrared (IR) light and ultraviolet light, all forms of electromagnetic radiation.

Solar applications utilize both sunlight and IR light for heating and cooling, electricity generation, natural illumination, crop drying, and chemical processes (e.g. water and air purification).

Solar heating (thermal) and photovoltaic (PV) systems are renewable, pollution-free energy sources which can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
