We foster environmental awareness and encourage initiatives that improve our environment. We also recognize the significance of Aboriginal people and their culture to the Province of Manitoba. To link these initiatives, we introduced the Spirit of the Earth Awards in 2002. The annual Spirit of the Earth Awards publicly recognize positive environmental achievements by Aboriginal people or that directly involve Aboriginal people.
