Manitoba Hydro recognizes both the environmental and economic benefits of waste minimization, recycling, and conservation.

The initial purchasing decision is critical. Long service, environmentally friendly materials that help minimize waste, are sought where feasible. Where possible, Manitoba Hydro recycles waste materials on site. Where this cannot be safely or efficiently accomplished, waste materials are sent off-site to licensed waste handling contractors.

Re-using valuable materials and resources, achieving substantial annual cost savings and supporting local industry mean long-term benefits for the environment and for Manitoba Hydro, now and in the future.
