Home Comfort and Energy Savings Program Home Comfort and Energy Guide

Think Power Smart!
Start Saving Energy Today!

If you have not lived in your residence for one full year, please do not complete this assessment as we will not be able to produce results for you.

The first step to lowering your energy bill is to understand how much energy you use to heat your home and to operate your appliances.

Your answers to the questions in this Form will identify how your home uses energy. We will analyze this information. Then, based on our knowledge about typical appliance usage, we'll make recommendations on how you can use energy more efficiently, make your home more comfortable, and save money on your energy bill.

When completing the survey, answer all the questions. If there is a question you are not sure about, give your best possible answer. In some cases, there may be more than one answer per question, so please read the questions carefully.

Questions missed or answered incompletely will affect the accuracy of your report. The more closely your response reflects your actual energy usage, the more accurate your report recommendations will be.

Note: The survey is not applicable to cottages, apartments that do not have their own electrical service meter, or duplex building serviced by only one electric meter.

A few weeks after completing this Form, you will receive a customized report based on the answers that you provided. This report will show you three things:
  • a breakdown of your home's energy use;
  • tips on how to make your home more energy efficient and comfortable, and
  • how to save money on your energy bill.
Your assessment requires that a number of assumptions be made, which may or may not be applicable to your particular household. Due to these factors, report results may vary or be less accurate where:
  • the Energy Assessment Form contains information that is incomplete or inaccurate;
  • your electrical service meter is connected to more than one building, e.g. farm operations;
  • your electrical service meter is connected to equipment that is located outside your household;
  • your residence is not occupied on a year-round basis;
  • you have lived in your home for less than one year.

Your estimated savings will also depend on the method of implementing the recommendations, year-to-year variations in weather, lifestyle, and future changes in energy costs. Savings are approximate only. Manitoba Hydro makes no promise or guarantee as to the actual savings you will realize.

Savings indicated for a single recommendation is the amount you would save if that recommendation was the only one implemented. Where more than one recommendation is implemented, the overall savings will tend to be less.

Before we can produce an energy analysis and recommendations customized to your home, we need to get your approval to look at your electric and natural gas billing history. By submitting this survey, you authorize Manitoba Hydro to use your billing information to produce an energy analysis and recommendations customized to your premises.

Note: Submitting the form online verifies that you have read the above information and are in agreement with these statements.
