St. Joseph Wind Farm

Construction is complete on a 138 MW wind farm at St. Joseph, in southern Manitoba, following the successful negotiation of a 27-year power purchase agreement between Manitoba Hydro and Pattern Energy. The first group of turbines began producing electricity on January 11, 2011.

With 60 wind turbines covering 125 square kilometres, St. Joseph is the largest wind farm built in Canada in 2010. It will generate enough power to meet the needs of 50,000 homes. The total cost of the wind farm is estimated to be about $345 million.
