Alternative Rate Options

Surplus Energy Program:

This program is available to commercial/industrial customers whose connected load exceeds 200 kilowatts (kW) and who meet other eligibility requirements.

Customers are billed monthly for a Basic Charge, Distribution Charge and Energy Charge. The Energy Charge varies from week-to-week according to spot market conditions.

Customers on the program may be subject to lengthy interruptions and are therefore required, in most cases, to have a working alternate back-up system.

For more information on the Surplus Energy Program, please contact the Manitoba Hydro Rates Department at 1-204-360-3428.

Curtailable Service Program:

This program is available to industrial customers whose connected load exceeds 5,000 kilowatts (kW) and who meet other eligibility requirements.

Customers on this program are expected to drop a minimum of 5,000 kW of load within a specified time-frame when requested to do so by Manitoba Hydro.

Customers will receive a monthly credit on their Hydro bill. This credit is dependent on the amount of curtailable load the customer makes available and the curtailment option selected by the customer.

For more information on the Curtailable Service Program, please contact the Manitoba Hydro Rates Department at 1-204-360-3428.
