Survey of Canadian Electricity Bills — Effective May 1, 2009

Notes

  1. Each participating utility calculates bills based on its rates as of 2009 05 01.
  2. All bills are net of discounts, income tax rebates, etc. and no GST, provincial or municipal taxes or surcharges are included. Newfoundland Power does however include a Municipal Tax and Rate Stabilization Adjustment which is built into their rates.
  3. ENMAX bill calculations are based on the May 2009 Regulated Rate Option (RRO) energy charge of 7.855 ¢/kWh.
  4. EPCOR bill calculations are based on the May 2009 Regulated Rate Option (RRO) energy charge of 7.380 ¢/kWh.
  5. Ontario – Bill calculations for Residential are based on an average seasonal commodity price of 5.70 ¢/kWh for the first 600 kWh (summer) and 1,000 kWh (winter) with the balance of kWh at 6.60 ¢/kWh. Calculations for General Service Small commodity price are based on the first 750 kWh at 5.70 ¢/kWh and balance of kWh at 6.60 ¢/kWh. Calculations for General Service Medium and Large are based on an average estimated price for energy which varies among utilities surveyed. All bill calculations include a debt retirement charge.
