Manitoba Hydro and the Winnipeg Airports Authority are working together during the design process to make the new James Armstrong Richardson International Airport energy efficient and environmentally friendly. The facility has upgraded from a boiler with 47 per cent efficiency to one that is 97 per cent to increase energy efficiency and improve occupancy comfort.

Since 2008, Simplot has been committed to a formalized energy reduction program, and as a result they remain competitive in today's marketplace. Every day Simplot Foods produces one million pounds of frozen French fries and hash browns. They reuse waste and have reduced their natural gas consumption by 15 per cent. Their lighting upgrades have reduced their electricity by 70 per cent.

Seven Oaks School Division partnered with Manitoba Hydro to build West Kildonan Collegiate to Power Smart Design Standards. As a result, the school is saving $30,000 in energy costs per year, saved more than $100,000 in capital costs, and reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by 250 tonnes. That is the equivalent of taking 75 cars off the road for a year.

St. Vital Centre partnered with Manitoba Hydro to improve its energy efficiency. The shopping centre installed energy efficient lighting and made changes to its building automation system. The upgrades mean a more comfortable atmosphere for its 160 tenants and reduced greenhouse gas emissions for generations to come.

The NOR-MAN Regional Health Authority improved the energy efficiency of their Emergency Medical Services ambulance garages in The Pas and Grand Rapids, and their Health Complex in The Pas. The upgrades reduced their energy bill by $20,000 annually and saved more than $30,000 in capital costs. Savings benefits include a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions that equals taking 100 cars off the road for a year.
