To be eligible for feasibility study assistance and/or a system installation Incentive, you must receive written approval from us before starting the feasibility study and/or system installation.
Customers that have started a feasibility study and/or system installation without our written pre-approval will not be eligible to receive any financial incentives. Customers that have installed geothermal heat pump systems in the past are not eligible for any financial incentives from us.
If you install a geothermal heating/cooling system, you may qualify for the Province of Manitoba’s Green Energy Equipment Tax Credit and the Provincial Grant Program. See the Manitoba Geothermal Energy Incentive Program for more information.
Feasibility study assistance
For qualifying feasibility studies, we provide assistance up to 50 per cent of the first $5,000 and up to 25 per cent of the remaining cost of the study (to a maximum grant of $10,000 per study). On average, a feasibility study costs approximately $2,400.
The amount of the assistance will be limited to 20 per cent of the potential system installation incentive.
By offering to provide feasibility study assistance, we make no representation or warranty for the fitness and quality of the design, installation or performance of the system proposed by your engineer/architect. This responsibility resides solely with the designers, manufacturers and contractors/installers of the equipment and systems. For complete details, please refer to the Terms and Conditions on the Geothermal Program Application.
System installation incentive
The system installation incentive is based on a prescriptive structure, and is calculated as being the lesser of:
- $2.50 per sq. ft. heated by a geothermal heat pump system; OR
- $120.00 per MBH of installed geothermal heating capacity; OR
- $120.00 per MBH of the buildings eligible base transmission and infiltration heating load.
