Low-cost and No-cost Energy Saving Tips

Restaurant operations come at a high cost but by adopting some simple habits, owners can start saving on their energy and hot water bills today with little effort or cost.

We encourage all commercial customers to:

  • read the owner's manual for information on how to operate the appliance to its highest efficiency;
  • determine appliance start-up times so that energy is not being wasted;
  • inspect, clean and maintain refrigeration and HVAC equipment regularly;
  • ensure refrigerated areas are set to their optimal temperature to reduce food spoilage;
  • install a setback thermostat to automatically control temperature settings in the kitchen and dining area;
  • keep windows and doors closed when the air conditioning is on;
  • install occupancy sensors that turn the lights off when an area is unoccupied (restrooms, for example).
