All projects require pre-approval by Manitoba Hydro prior to purchasing or installing new lighting or removing any existing lighting. Contact your Manitoba Hydro account representative for an application.

To qualify for incentives, you must be a Manitoba Hydro commercial customer billed at the electrical general service rate and operate lighting for 2,000 hours per year. Projects with 1,000 to 1,999 hours per year may qualify for prorated incentives. Installations must meet Manitoba Electrical Code requirements.

An electrical permit is required for LED specialty and linear lamps in the following:

  • HID ballast;
  • CFL ballast;
  • T8;
  • T5HO.

LED screw-in lamps for 120V medium base sockets do not require an electrical permit.

If you are installing lighting in a new construction project, you may qualify for the New Buildings Program.
