Lighting Program

Choose energy efficient lighting for your business to save big on your lighting bill, reduce your maintenance costs, and enjoy long-lasting light.

We offer guidance and financial incentives to commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers who install energy efficient lighting in renovation projects.

All projects require pre-approval by Manitoba Hydro prior to purchasing or installing new lighting or removing any existing lighting. Contact your Manitoba Hydro account representative for an application form.

To qualify for incentives, you must be a Manitoba Hydro commercial customer billed at the electrical general service rate and operate lighting for 2,000 hours per year. Projects with 1,000 to 1,999 hours per year may qualify for prorated incentives. Installations must meet Manitoba Electrical Code requirements.

For program guidelines and policies, customer eligibility criteria, and directions for completion of the application, review our program guide (PDF, 445 KB).

For technical specifications that lighting products must meet in order to be eligible for the program, refer to our technical specification guide (PDF, 1.7 MB).

LED specialty lamps that require an electrical permit include LED specialty lamps for HID ballast, LED specialty lamps for CFL ballast, LED T8 linear lamps, and LED T5HO linear lamps. LED screw-in lamps for 120V medium base sockets do not require an electrical permit.

If you are installing lighting in a new construction project, you may qualify for the New Buildings Program.
