Eligibility

To receive the $245 rebate you must:

• own a residence in Manitoba (does not have to be your primary residence);
• be a Manitoba Hydro customer with a current active account;
• use oil or propane as the primary heat source;
• replace an oil or propane furnace/boiler in a residential home with one of the following:
  • a minimum high efficiency 92 per cent AFUE natural gas furnace with a DC variable speed motor;
  • an electric furnace or electric boiler;
  • a minimum efficiency of 85 per cent AFUE boiler.

You are NOT eligible for the rebate if you:

• heat your home with natural gas;
• heat your home with wood;
• replaced your furnace before May 1, 2009;
• replace your furnace after the program ends;
• apply for the rebate for a commercial building heated with propane or oil.

Only residential customers that switch from oil or propane as their primary heating fuel to natural gas or electric are eligible to receive the rebate. As a provider of both electric and natural gas services, we cannot promote one fuel over the other.
