Power Smart low-flow showerheads use approximately 1.5 gallons of water per minute (GPM) or 6 litres of water per minute (L/min.), while other low-flow showerheads often use more. Low-flow showerheads on the market today range from 1.5 GPM or 6.0 L/min up to 2.5 GPM or 9.5 L/min.

A Power Smart low-flow faucet aerator has a flow rate of 1.5 GPM or 6.0 L/min, and a standard aerator has a flow rate of 2.25 GPM or 9.0 L/min. Check the flow rate on your current aerators to see if they meet Power Smart standards.

Look for flow rate information on the packaging or on the device itself to ensure that it is a genuine low-flow product. The flow rate will be indicated in either GPM or L/min. If your current plumbing fixtures use 1.5 GPM or 6 L/min, they meet Power Smart low-flow standards and will provide you with good water and energy savings.
