Manitoba Hydro building and facility managers have incorporated energy efficient technologies and improved the energy efficiency of new and existing Manitoba Hydro buildings throughout the Province with the assistance of the Internal Retrofit Program. Team work and staff support have helped support Manitoba Hydro's commitment to Power Smart and have played an integral role in the success of the Internal Retrofit Program.
Power Smart energy efficient lighting is just one example of an energy efficient upgrade which has provided many benefits including better quality of light, less flickering, quieter operation and lower maintenance costs. In addition, upgrading the building envelope to Power Smart specifications has resulted in less drafts and a quieter, more comfortable space for occupants. These upgrades and more can be incorporated into residential, commercial and industrial environments. In order to be considered Power Smart, new and renovated buildings must meet specific design standards.
