Public information sessions announced

October 12, 2016

The Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board is hosting four public information sessions to discuss with Manitobans the results of their recently-completed review of Manitoba Hydro.

The sessions will provide details on the board’s decision to complete the Bipole III Transmission Project as planned, the financial challenges facing the corporation and what steps are being taken to address those challenges. The meeting will include a short presentation followed by a question and answer session for those in attendance.

The sessions are:

  • Winnipeg - October 18
Victoria Inn - 1808 Wellington Avenue
    7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Winkler - October 25
Quality Inn - 851 Main Street
    7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Thompson - November 3
Royal Canadian Legion - 101 Elizabeth Drive
    7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Brandon - November 9
Victoria Inn - 3550 Victoria Avenue
    7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Attending the meetings will be members of the Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board and Manitoba Hydro President and CEO, Kelvin Shepherd.

“These public information sessions will allow us the opportunity to provide details on the current challenges facing Manitoba Hydro,” board chair H. Sanford Riley said. “More importantly, it’s our chance to hear directly from Manitobans regarding their questions or concerns.”

Manitoba Hydro President and CEO Kelvin Shepherd said the public information sessions are a part of demonstrating Manitoba Hydro’s commitment to openness and transparency.

“We want to hear what our customers think as we serve their energy needs for the years to come,” Shepherd said.

The public information sessions follow the release of an independent report by the Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board that examined the financial situation of the Crown utility.
