A wholly owned subsidiary of Manitoba Hydro. Centra’s rates and terms of service are regulated by The Public Utilities Board.
Alternate supply service:
Service available only to Interruptible customers and is a supply of gas that Centra may offer from time to time in lieu of curtailment. When it is available, it is offered to Interruptible customers at Centra’s cost plus a delivery charge.
Basic monthly charge:
Flat monthly charge that reflects a portion of the fixed costs of being connected to Centra’s distribution system and is not related to the volume of gas consumed.
Demand distribution charge:
Monthly charge that reflects customers’ use of capacity on Centra’s distribution system necessary to bring gas to the customer’s facility.
Demand transportation charge:
Monthly charge that reflects customers’ use of Centra’s capacity to bring gas to Manitoba for distribution.
Distribution to customer:
Charge that includes the cost of delivering natural gas to each customer’s facility. It includes the cost of pipe and facilities that Centra has installed, as well as the operation and maintenance costs for the distribution system.
Gas service where service cannot be curtailed except under emergency situations.
Gas service where service can be curtailed by Centra at any time. Accordingly, the customer pays a lower cost for this service.
Monthly billing demand:
The level at which customers are assessed a Demand Charge. The Monthly Billing Demand is equal to each customer’s peak daily usage between the months of November and March multiplied by the applicable unit demand rates.
Natural gas consumed by Interruptible sales customers in contravention to a request for curtailment.
Natural gas received from Western Canada and supplied to customers either directly by Centra or through a natural gas marketer or broker.
Gas volumes that Centra Gas procures and delivers to satisfy sales customers’ gas requirements.
Quantity of natural gas (excluding Alternate Supply provided to Interruptible customers) that is provided by Centra in order to meet gas requirements in excess of the portion of requirements that can be met by Primary Gas.
A service under which Centra provides transmission and/or distribution of customer-owned gas on Centra’s system.
Transportation to Centra:
Charge that includes the cost of transporting natural gas to Manitoba, including pipeline charges and the cost of storage facilities. The “Transportation to Centra” rate is multiplied by the gas volumes consumed by the customer in each billing period.
A charge that helps defray those costs that do not change with the amount of electricity used. This includes the direct costs of metering, portions of the distribution system, as well as billing administration.
The period of time, generally 30 days, in which energy and/or demand is consumed and thereafter billed to the customer.
Twelve monthly billing periods commencing with the month of December and ending the following November.
The maximum use of power within a specified period of time.
That portion of the charge for electric service based upon the electric capacity (kVA) consumed and billed on the basis of the billing demand under an applicable rate schedule.
Power integrated over time and measured or expressed in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
That portion of the charge for electric service based upon the electric energy (kWh) consumed or billed.
General service small:
Non-residential, utility-owned transformation, billing demand not exceeding 200 kVA.
