Service & lighting applications

Whether making changes to your existing service, building a new home, business, or commercial development, or removing service from your properties, we can help you get the required applications.

November 25, 2022: Manitoba Hydro has suspended processing new electrical service requests for cryptocurrency operations. This Manitoba government directive under The Crown Corporations Governance and Accountability Act will be in effect until April 30, 2024.

Service applications

  • Residential
    To connect new electrical or natural gas service, or make changes to the existing service to a home, complete a service application and arrange for all electrical wiring permits and inspections.
  • Commercial
    To connect new electrical or natural gas service, or make changes to the existing service to a commercial property, complete a service application and arrange for all electrical wiring permits and inspections.
  • Oil field
    To request electrical extensions or upgrades to any premises or facilities used primarily for oil production processing and in-field pumping, there are applications and permits you must submit.
  • Agricultural
    To connect new electrical or natural gas service, or make changes to the existing service on a rural property or farm, complete a service application and arrange for all electrical wiring permits and inspections.

Remove or disconnect services

  • Service removal
    Request removal of your electric and/or natural gas meter(s) and/or service when it is no longer required (for example, include moving or demolishing a building). Call us if you are moving a mobile home.
  • Temporary service disconnection
    Disconnect your electrical and/or natural gas meter(s) and/or service to ensure all workers are safe, while completing your work (for example, siding projects, foundation repairs, and construction projects).

Roadway and sentinel lighting

  • Sentinel lighting
    To add, relocate, or remove sentinel (dusk-to-dawn) LED lighting on your property, complete a service application.
  • Roadway lighting
    A Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure or Public Authority can apply for lighting to be installed on streets, provincial roads, bridges, overpasses, underpasses, and interchanges.

Pre-service applications

  • Residential development pre-service
    To pre-service 2 or more year-round or seasonal residential lots for single family homes, townhouses or row houses, complete this application. Residential multi-level apartment complexes must complete a commercial pre-service application.
  • Commercial development pre-service
    To pre-service 2 or more lots for small to large business spaces including strip malls, complete this application.
