The Transcona gate station is located near the intersection of Dugald Road and Plessis Road in Winnipeg. It supplies natural gas to around 40,000 customers in east Winnipeg. This project will replace or update the existing natural gas equipment and structures, and install new operation controls.

Upgrading the station equipment will reduce the chance of equipment failure and enhance reliability for our customers. The new operation controls will allow us to monitor the station remotely, adjust the system more efficiently, and quickly identify and respond to potential problems.

The existing structures will be removed and replaced with a larger single-storey structure. Some of the natural gas piping will be replaced and moved inside the new structure.

Updates

During construction: 2022

No natural gas outages will occur during this work. The Transcona gate station will be temporarily shut down for the project and other Winnipeg stations will provide natural gas for the area.

Nearby residents can expect some noise from materials delivery, large equipment, existing piping and structures removal, and excavation, welding and screw piling for the new equipment and structure.
