We replace aging hydro poles to maintain electrical reliability and service safety across Manitoba. If you have a hydro pole on or near your property that needs to be replaced, we will let you know ahead of time when the work is scheduled.
If a pole is in your backyard, we will let you know before we come into your yard with equipment. We may need to remove a section of fencing to access your yard, which will be reinstalled after the work is finished. Our crews take precautions and care when working on your property and may use large ground mats to help protect your landscaping. You will need to leave gates unlocked, make sure your pets are inside and stay inside and any outdoor toys or furniture must be moved to give our crews access to work safely and efficiently.
There will be a brief power outage when overhead wires are relocated to the new hydro pole. Equipment will be removed from your property, however removal of the old hydro pole may be delayed based on ground conditions or if telecommunication wires are present.

Once in a while, we may need to access your property to repair or replace a utility pole and related equipment. Doing this work is critical to electrical reliability and safety.
Watch this video to find out what to expect before, during, and after the work is done — including how you’ll be notified, how long it usually takes, what safety precautions our crews follow, and why some old poles may remain for a time.
