Summer employment
We offer approximately 200 summer employment opportunities in the energy industry to university and college students (with limited opportunities for high school students). We typically hire students who are enrolled in academic programs that support our operational needs. Preference is given to students who live in Manitoba.
Jobs are available in a number of areas including:
Eligibility
To be eligible for summer employment, you must be a student who is:
- at least 16 years of age
- legally eligible to work in Canada
- living in Manitoba for the full duration of your work term
- enrolled in full-time studies both before and after the work term. If you will not be returning to school after the work term but need a co-op term to graduate, you are still eligible.
How to apply for summer employment
2026 summer student opportunities will be posted December 1. If you’re interested in co-op opportunities, these positions will be posted with your educational institution.
Co-op programs
We support various co-op programs by offering paid work directly related to your academic studies.
Co-operative education programs are offered through various educational institutes, typically through degree programs at universities and diploma programs at community colleges. All co-op students are required to alternate their academic studies with paid co-op work terms.
Work terms will help direct your future career and further develop your skills and abilities. Your work term training and experience, combined with your academic knowledge, prepares you for the workforce after graduation.
Co-op opportunities vary annually, with most of them being offered during the summer term. If you’re interested in a summer co-op position follow the same application process as summer students, except for RRC Trades Technology students. RRC Trades Technology students will apply through the RRC career bridge portal.
Any co-op positions available during the fall or winter terms will be posted on your school’s website, and we encourage you to submit your applications there.
How to apply co-op programs
- Register in a co-operative educational program through your school and the Province of Manitoba Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) services.
- An invitation to apply may be posted at your school or resumés may be organized through your co-op program coordinator.
- Email your application to us Student Summer Employment.
If you’re selected you must provide a job description to your educational institution to make sure it meets their co-op program’s requirements. We’ll review applications, interview students and select suitable applicants.
