WINNIPEG – Unifor Local 681 has advised that all Manitoba Hydro Unifor members across the province will commence strike action at 6:30 a.m. Friday, June 17. Unifor represents approximate 230 natural gas workers at Manitoba Hydro across the province.

Customers should know that Manitoba Hydro has a contingency plan in place to respond to natural gas emergencies and protect public safety during the strike, including responding to natural gas leaks or other emergency repairs. However, non-emergency gas work will be delayed.

During the strike, customers may have to reschedule meter exchanges and appliance inspections. Customers calling regarding issues with natural gas water heaters, ranges, dryers, or furnaces will be directed to contact a local appliance dealer or repair shop.

See www.hydro.mb.ca for more information on your service in a strike.

Manitoba Hydro remains committed to continuing discussions with Unifor and the collective bargaining process. Our goal is to conclude negotiations as soon as possible to minimize the impact on our customers. We appreciate their patience as we work to resolve the strike.
