Manitoba Hydro is warning of an email scam targeting the utility’s customers.
An email mimicking a Manitoba Hydro ‘bill is ready’ email has been delivered to some customers.
It appears very similar to a Manitoba Hydro email, but there are noticeable differences.
Customers should read such emails closely to ensure:
- The sender is notifications@hydro.mb.ca.
- The displayed portion of the customer’s service address is correct.
- The displayed portion of the customer’s account number is correct.
If this information does not appear correct, customers should not reply or click on any links provided and delete the email.
Customers with an online account can log in to their account directly through a web browser or the Manitoba Hydro app to confirm if a new bill has been issued or check their account balance.
Manitoba Hydro guards against attempts at fraud targeting the utility and its customers. But customers should also be vigilant, and visit Manitoba Hydro’s website for tips on identifying, avoiding and reporting scams.
