Manitoba Hydro’s logo was created by a young man from Manchester, England who with his wife made Winnipeg their home for about a decade in 60s and 70s.
The Great Falls Generating Station has provided Manitobans with renewable electricity since it was built 100 years ago this year.
A bronze plaque first installed by the former Manitoba Power Commission at its head office in 1949, to honour its employees who served and who were killed in WWII, has been re-installed by Manitoba Hydro at its corporate office in downtown Winnipeg.
Winnipeg’s first all-electric house was built in 1922. The home was a showcase of modern, affordable electricity – and the city’s future as the “Electrical City”.
