To maintain the reliability of Manitoba’s electricity system, we built a new 230-kilovolt transmission line to support the province’s aging high-voltage direct current (HVDC) infrastructure.

Known as the Radisson to Henday transmission line (R44H), the proposed line will run approximately 42 kilometres between the Radisson and Henday Converter Stations. It is built within an existing right-of-way corridor and includes electrical connections at both stations.

This project addresses the growing limitations of aging infrastructure and the need for increased transmission capacity between northern converter stations. By reinforcing this critical segment of the HVDC system, the R44H line is expected to enhance overall system reliability and reduce the risk of service interruptions.

How to participate

We thank everyone who provided their feedback and participated in the engagement process for this project. While our formal engagement process to inform the environmental assessment has ended, we remain open and responsive to any questions or concerns that may arise through the project’s construction and operation. The project webpage will continue to be updated as the project progresses through project construction.

Updates

R44H construction complete: July 2026

Construction of the Radisson to Henday transmission line (R44H) was completed in July 2026. The transmission line is expected to go in-service by spring 2027. While physical construction of the Radisson to Henday transmission line is complete, you may still see crews within the easement area to conduct routine maintenance and complete required repairs to the electrical system.

When in-service, this transmission line is expected to enhance overall system reliability and reduce the risk of service interruptions.
