Season’s Greetings

This article was published in December 2022 and may be outdated.

The holidays give us a chance to slow down for a moment and remind ourselves of what’s truly important. Our family. Our friends. Our homes. And the peace and stability of Canada.

We’re blessed in Manitoba to have the energy resources people in other countries would consider a luxury. And our dedicated employees continue to bring you reliable electricity and natural gas service every day to keep you warm and safe.

I’m always impressed by the commitment of our employees to their work, but also to their communities. One example is the return this season of the downtown Santa Claus Parade after a two-year absence due to the pandemic. Manitoba Hydro has been a sponsor of the annual parade for over 30 years because we know how important it is to our city and the families that attend. The employees and their families who volunteer for this annual event make the parade a success and a joy for so many children.

As 2022 comes to an end, let’s take a moment to remember those who aren’t as fortunate. There are many charitable organizations in our province you can contribute to or volunteer for a few hours over the holidays to help those in need.

One is the Neighbours Helping Neighbours program. It provides one-time emergency funding to assist families struggling with their energy bills. Neighbours Helping Neighbours relies on private and corporate donations to fund its services. Since 2004, more than 9,000 Manitoban families have received funding, helping to keep their lights on and furnaces running, during uncertain times in their lives. For more information about the program, including how to donate, please visit Neighbours Helping Neighbours.

On behalf of all our employees across this great province, I wish you the best of the season.

May you all enjoy a happy, healthy, and safe 2023.
