November 1, 2026 natural gas rate changes
The Public Utilities Board (PUB) has approved revised natural gas rates effective November 1, 2026. The annual bill for the typical residential customer will decrease by 2.7% or $16 per year. The combined annualized bill impact for larger volume system supply customers ranges from decreases of 4.5% to 22.7%, depending on customer class and consumption levels.
The reduction in rates reflect the implementation of new temporary 24-month downward rate adjustments associated with prior period non-gas commodity costs, as well as the effect of a quarterly decrease in the gas commodity rate from 6.60¢ per cubic metre to 5.88¢ per cubic metre, due primarily to changes in the price we pay for natural gas from western Canada. These decreases are partially offset by the impact of a PUB approved November 1, 2026 general revenue increase of 4.0% associated with the costs to operate and maintain the natural gas distribution system. The 4.0% increase was approved by the PUB on September 16, 2025, following Centra’s 2025 general rate application with the PUB.

Excluding the effects of future rate changes, you’ll experience bill increases in the future when the temporary 24-month downward rate adjustments expire on October 31, 2028.
Gas commodity and delivery rates may be adjusted each gas quarter (February, May, August and November) for increases or decreases to the forecast costs of natural gas supply. We earn no profit on the sale of gas commodity. The price that we pay is passed directly on to you with no markup; you pay what we pay.
To help with the effect of quarterly fluctuations caused by market prices, we offer you the option of paying your natural gas bills in equal monthly payments through our Equal Payment Plan.

Electricity rates
Effective January 1, 2026, electricity rates increased 4.0%. Customers in the Residential class without electric heat using an average of 1,000 kilowatt hours per month will see an increase of approximately $4.20 in their monthly bill. Residential customers with electric space heat using an average of 2,000 kilowatt hours per month will see an increase of approximately $8.05 in their monthly bill.
