Project description

Have you incorporated gas-as-built drawings into your construction plans?
Are you working within 3.0 metres of a transmission-pressure natural gas main?
Are you working within 3.0 metres of a high-pressure natural gas main?
Are you working within 1.0 metre of a distribution-pressure natural gas main of 114.3 mm size or smaller?
Are you working within 1.0 metre of a distribution-pressure natural gas main of 168.3 mm size or larger?
Are you working within 30 metres of the Minell Pipeline?
Check off all types of work that apply to your project:
Does the proposed work include installation or removal of objects within 1.0 m of gas mains? (e.g. catch basins, manholes, subdrains etc.)
Does the proposed work include the installation or removal of trees?
Does the proposed work include construction of a building (house, shed, commercial building, etc.)?
Are you working within 3.0 m of any gas main outside of public right-of-way?
Does your project require infrastructure to be installed inside of Manitoba Hydro’s easement limits?
Is this project completed by or for Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure?
Is blasting required (or any disturbance that may affect existing infrastructure)?
Will screw piles be installed within 3.0 metres of a natural gas main?
Will driven piles be installed within 5.0 metres of a natural gas main?
Does equipment cross any gas main outside of a paved municipal roadway?
Do you expect that there will be interference with proposed installations and existing gas mains, and that relocation or lowering of gas facilities will be required?
Will grading or ground elevations changes occur such that there will be insufficient cover over any gas facilities?

Gas main crossing

Utilities or other infrastructure will cross a natural gas main within a public ROW *
Utilities or other infrastructure will cross a natural gas main outside a public ROW *

Depth of existing natural gas mains

The depth of all gas facilities must be determined before any works begin. If the minimum depth of cover cannot be met, then relocations or lowerings may be required. Timelines for this work are included in our checklist.

The natural gas mains in project area will meet minimum depths of cover requirements (PDF, 56 KB) when work is complete. *

Temporary vehicle or equipment crossings

Only Manitoba Hydro-approved vehicles are permitted to cross natural gas lines.

Select all equipment and vehicles that will cross a natural gas main outside a paved municipal roadway.

Required documents

Your application will not be processed without your documents. Upload all required documents including:

  • construction plans;
  • detailed description of items planned to be installed outside of public ROW (if project requires infrastructure construction at this location);
  • map of temporary vehicle and equipment access routes with crossings clearly marked.
