If you have an overdue balance and haven’t worked with us on a payment solution, your service may be fully disconnected or load limited during the heating season. A full disconnection of service will result in no power to your home. A load limiter reduces your power supply to 15 amps of service, which is enough to run your furnace. If you exceed 15 amps, the load limiter will shut off your power supply and will need to be reset.
To reset:
- turn off all electrical loads
- depending on the style of device installed on your meter, you will either:
- push the small button, or
- flip the breaker to the “on” position
If this does not restore power, flip the breaker back to the “off” position and try again. If power is still not restored, contact us.
Full payment of the overdue balance, plus a reconnection fee, will be required before service is fully restored. You can pay through your bank or credit union online or in person, or use one of our other approved payment methods.
Reconnection fees range from $70 to $100 plus GST for gas service and $150 plus GST for electric service, and a security deposit may also be required. Reconnection of power can take up to 72 hours, and some exceptions may apply such as bad weather and fly-in or remote communities.
To discuss payment options and reconnection timelines, contact us at 1-888-624-9376 (1-888-MBHYDRO) Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
It is a criminal offence to tamper with the meter.
