Budget easier with our Equal Payment Plan

Manitoba summers and winters bring extreme weather, with your heating and cooling systems working overtime to keep your home at a comfortable temperature. Weather has a big impact on your energy bill, and temperature changes can make it hard to predict your energy costs. Enrolling in our Equal Payment Plan (EPP) helps balance out those costs throughout the year and make it easier for you to budget for your monthly bill.

Once you’ve enrolled, your energy bill will move to a set monthly payment for the EPP year. This takes away seasonal bill spikes that you might see otherwise.

How it works

EPP estimates your upcoming annual energy costs (based on your historical energy use) and divides those costs into equal monthly payments. You’ll pay the same amount each month throughout the EPP year. At the end of the EPP year (August), your plan resets. In August you will either have:

  • a balance owing (if you’ve used more energy than what we’ve estimated for you) or
  • a bill credit (if you’ve used less energy than we’ve estimated)

You can track your payments and energy use on the EPP section of your bill to help you understand and prepare for the end of the EPP billing year. If your energy use is trending higher or lower than we estimated for the year, we may rebalance your monthly payments in the spring to help you avoid having a large balance or credit at the end of the year.

Apply online in minutes

To enroll in the EPP:

  • log in to your online account
  • review your estimated monthly payment under the “Billing” section
  • select “Apply” for each service you’d like to enroll in (electric, natural gas or both).

If you enroll between September and March, your monthly EPP payments will start on your next bill. If you enroll between April and August, your EPP payments will begin in September (the start of the new EPP year).
