Manitoba Hydro crews continue to make progress restoring power
More than 10,000 restored so far, some may remain without power overnight
Manitoba Hydro crews have restored power to more than 10,000 customers affected by last night’s severe weather.
The damage to poles and power lines is extensive and spread across hundreds of separate outages, mostly in the City of Winnipeg. More outages have occurred throughout the day today due to already weakened trees falling on our lines, adding to the calls we’re responding to.
About 18,000 customers remain without power.
Crews are actively assessing and repairing damage, but with such a large number of outages across a wide area, we can’t estimate yet when all power will be restored.
We are working safely to restore power as quickly as possible, and crews from other parts of the province have been reassigned to expedite storm repairs. Unfortunately some customers could remain without power overnight. Learn how to prepare for an extended outage.
If you see a downed power line, stay at least 10 metres away from the line and anything it may be touching and call 911 immediately. Please do not approach Manitoba Hydro crews working in the field and avoid areas where damage is being repaired.
Customers can continue to report outages through the Manitoba Hydro app or by calling 1‑888‑624‑9376 (1‑888‑MBHYDRO).
We understand outages of this duration are frustrating and appreciate your patience and support as our crews work safely to restore power to all customers as quickly as possible.
