Manitoba Hydro crews repairing damage from severe storm
Be safe: stay away from downed power lines and call 911
Manitoba Hydro crews are assessing damage and beginning repairs to equipment damaged in last night’s severe storm.
High winds, heavy rain and lightning brought down trees, poles and power lines resulting in hundreds of outages that left tens of thousands of customers without power.
If you see a downed or sparking line, stay at least 10m away and call 911. If you see Manitoba Hydro crews working on damage, please do not approach.
Some outages have already been restored but as of noon today, there are more than 500 outages affecting about 28,000 customers. Most of the affected customers are in the City of Winnipeg, but there are several outages outside the city as well.
We can’t provide estimated restoration times yet as crews are still assessing a large number of outages scattered across a wide area. Crews are prioritizing the repairs that will restore power to the largest number of customers at once.
Manitoba Hydro is assigning additional crews to outage restoration work including construction crews and contractors diverted from ongoing projects. We are making every effort to safely restore power as quickly as possible and thank customers for their patience and support.
