Manitoba Hydro working to repair damage from latest severe summer storm
Be safe: stay away from downed power lines
Manitoba Hydro crews are continuing to respond to power outages caused by severe weather Sunday night that damaged equipment in Winnipeg and southern Manitoba.
High winds, heavy rain and lighting broke poles, brought large trees down on lines and caused other damage in some areas.
Manitoba Hydro is urging customers to be safe. Do not approach damaged areas or crews at work. Stay at least 10 metres away from downed power lines and anything they touch and call 911. Large fallen trees can hide hazards like live power lines.
Manitoba Hydro crews restored power in some areas overnight, but about 4000 customers remained without power in and around River Heights and Westwood Monday morning. Damage in some areas is severe, which may require complex repairs and result in extended outages for some customers.
More stormy weather forecast for Monday could cause further damage and delay repairs to existing damage.
