Apply to decorate our poles and street lights

More in this section

We support community initiatives in municipalities, towns and cities across the province. Decorations such as banners and planters are great ways to add personality to our communities, recognize special events and occasions, honour our history and dress up neighbourhoods and main thoroughfares in any community.

You must apply for our permission before you add decorations to our poles or street lights.

To avoid damage and maintain safety when you install banners or planters on our poles or street lights, read our guidelines (PDF, 87 KB).

  • Wind shedding brackets must be used for banners to make sure that poles and streetlights aren’t strained.
  • Height, weight and distance requirements must be met for hanging planters to make sure pedestrians and drivers using nearby sidewalks and roadways are safe.

Communities and organizations that use non-compliant banners or planters will have until December 31, 2026 to update or remove them. We will remove non-compliant banner holders and flowerpot installations starting January 2, 2027.
