September 1, 2023

On August 24, 2023, the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba (PUB) issued Order 101/23 with respect to Manitoba Hydro’s 2023/24 & 2024/25 General Rate Application, approving an overall average revenue increase of 1% effective September 1, 2023, and a further overall average increase of 1% that comes into effect on April 1, 2024. On August 31, 2023, the PUB issued Order 104/23 approving rate schedules reflecting the approved revenue increase. View bill impacts by customer class.

March 10, 2023

On March 10, 2023, Manitoba Hydro filed responses to Round II Information Requests with the PUB with respect to its 2023/24 & 2024/25 General Rate Application.

On December 21, 2022, Manitoba Hydro filed phase 2 of its 2023/24 & 2024/25 General Rate Application with the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba (PUB).

December 9, 2022

On December 9, 2022, Manitoba Hydro amended portions of its 2023/24 & 2024/25 General Rate Application with the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba (PUB), including amending the level of proposed electric rate increases to 2 per cent effective September 1, 2023 and a further 2 per cent increase effective April 1, 2024. Manitoba Hydro is also seeking final approval of the interim rate increase of 3.6 per cent implemented January 1, 2022.

November 15, 2022

On November 15, 2022, Manitoba Hydro filed its 2023/24 & 2024/25 General Rate Application with the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba (PUB). In its Application, Manitoba Hydro is requesting approval of a 3.5 per cent electric rate increase effective September 1, 2023 and a further 3.5 per cent increase effective April 1, 2024. In addition, Manitoba Hydro is seeking final approval of the interim rate increase of 3.6% implemented January 1, 2022.

If approved by the PUB, a residential customer, without electric heat, using an average of 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, would see an increase in their electricity bill of $4 per month after September 1, 2023 and an additional $4 per month after April 1, 2024. A residential customer with electric heat, using an average of 2,000 kilowatt hours per month, would see an increase in their electricity bill of $7 per month after September 1, 2023 and an additional $7 per month after April 1, 2024.

More information on customer bill impacts by class will follow when phase 2 of the Application is filed later this year.

February 25, 2022

On February 25, 2022, Manitoba Hydro filed an Application to Review and Vary Public Utilities Board Order 9/22. The next steps in the process will be determined by the PUB.

November 15, 2021

On November 15, 2021, Manitoba Hydro filed its 2021/22 Interim Rate Application with the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba (PUB). In this filing, Manitoba Hydro is requesting an overall average 5.0 per cent electric rate increase effective January 1, 2022. Manitoba Hydro has requested the increase to address the significant detrimental financial impact resulting from the current drought.

If approved by the PUB, a residential customer, without electric heat, using an average of 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see an increase in their electricity bill of $5 per month. A residential customer with electric heat, using an average of 2,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see an increase in their electricity bill of $10 per month.

March 7, 2019

On March 7, 2019, Manitoba Hydro filed updated responses to PUB Information Requests and filed responses to Intervener Information Requests with the PUB with respect to its 2019/20 Electric Rate Application.

November 30, 2018

On November 30, 2018, Manitoba Hydro filed its 2019/20 Electric Rate Application with the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba (PUB). In this filing, Manitoba Hydro is requesting approval of a 3.5% rate increase effective April 1, 2019.

If approved by the PUB, a residential customer, without electric space heat, using an average of 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see an increase in their electricity bill of $3.30 per month effective April 1, 2019. A residential customer with electric space heat, using an average of 2,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see an increase in their electricity bill of $6.30 per month.

May 30, 2018

On May 30, 2018, Manitoba Hydro filed an Application to Review & Vary certain aspects of Public Utilities Board Order 59/18 and Public Utilities Board Order 68/18. The PUB has determined that it will receive written submissions from Intervenors of record, and afford Manitoba Hydro an opportunity to reply to those submissions prior to determining whether an oral hearing on Manitoba Hydro’s Application will be required.

May 1, 2018

On May 1, 2018, the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba (PUB) issued Order 58/18 with respect to Manitoba Hydro’s 2017/18 & 2018/19 General Rate Application, approving an overall average revenue increase of 3.6% effective June 1, 2018. On May 29, 2018, the PUB issued Order 68/18 approving rate schedules reflecting the approved revenue increase. View bill impacts by customer class.

On July 31, 2017, the PUB issued Order 80/17 approving an interim rate increase of 3.36% effective August 1, 2017. On August 3, 2017, the PUB issued Order 85/17 approving the rate schedules reflecting the approved rate increase. A residential customer, without electric space heat, using an average of 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see an increase in their electricity bill of $2.92 per month effective August 1, 2017. A residential customer with electric space heat, using an average of 2,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see an increase in their electricity bill of $5.58 per month.

July 11, 2017

On July 11, 2017, Manitoba Hydro filed an update to its financial forecast for electric operations as part of the 2017/18 & 2018/19 General Rate Application.

On May 5, 2017, Manitoba Hydro filed its 2017/18 & 2018/19 General Rate Application (GRA) with the Public Utilities Board (PUB) of Manitoba. In this filing, Manitoba Hydro is requesting approval of a 7.9% rate increase effective August 1, 2017 and a further 7.9% rate increase effective April 1, 2018. Further information in support of Manitoba Hydro’s GRA will be filed on May 12, 2017.

If approved by the PUB, a residential customer, without electric space heat, using an average of 1,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see an increase in their electricity bill of $6.88 per month effective August 1, 2017. A residential customer with electric space heat, using an average of 2,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see an increase in their electricity bill of $13.14 per month.
